How to Create Abundance by Valuing the Gift of Time

We often talk about abundance in terms of money; how to earn it, save it, attract it.

But what if the truest gateway to abundance isn’t found in your bank balance, but in how you value your time?

This article is part two in the How to Create Abundance series. In part one, we explored 5 common money myths that hold us back. Today, we’re looking at time; not as a schedule to manage, but as a deeply personal expression of self-worth and presence.

Because if money comes and goes, time only goes.

And how you spend it says everything about what you value; including yourself.

Time Is Not Money

You’ve likely heard the phrase: “Time is money.”

But let’s pause on that.
Is it really?

If you're a high-achieving, busy, successful person, your time is likely seen as precious. Valuable. Expensive, even. But does that mean someone with fewer professional commitments has less valuable time?

The truth is: time is not money.
Money can be earned, saved, lost, or replaced.
Time can only be spent.

And as Eckhart Tolle reminds us:

“Realise deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.”

The present moment isn’t just a cliché. It’s your most valuable, non-renewable resource. So, how are you spending yours?

The Present Moment Is Where Abundance Begins

We often wait for clarity, success, or fulfilment to arrive sometime in the future.

But every choice we make (right here, right now) is a thread in the tapestry of our lives. Your future isn’t out there. It’s created by the decisions you make today.

The more present you are with your time, the more intentionally you begin to shape the life you want.

Abundance doesn’t begin with more money.
It begins with more presence.

Time vs Money: The Shift in Perspective

Here’s a question worth sitting with:

If you had all the money you needed — what would you do with your time?

When we view time purely through a monetary lens, we start making decisions based on price instead of value.

Consider:

  • Do you judge quality by price tags?
  • Do you choose free events simply because they’re free — without assessing the value they offer?
  • Do you say yes to requests or invitations just because your calendar is technically free?

These are all signs that time is being undervalued — or not valued on your own terms.

The Value of Your Time Reflects Your Self-Worth

Your sense of self-worth has a direct impact on how you value your time.

If you don’t believe your time matters, you’ll give it away freely. You’ll let others fill your calendar. You’ll deprioritise your own needs.

But when you begin to honour the value you bring — your experience, presence, insight, energy — you’ll start to treat time differently.

You’ll set clearer boundaries.
You’ll choose differently.
You’ll notice what truly energises and fulfils you — and what drains you.

No one will value your time more than you do. Start there.

Practical Questions to Reclaim the Gift of Time

Let’s get practical. Here are five simple check-in questions to help you become more mindful with your time:

  1. Is this bringing me joy?
  2. Is this playing to my strengths?
  3. Am I learning from this?
  4. Am I adding value — to myself or others?
  5. Does this align with my values and beliefs?

If your answer to all five is no — you have a choice. Either let it go, or shift the activity so at least one answer becomes a yes.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence.

Creating Abundance by Making Time Meaningful

The more conscious you become of how you spend your time, the more abundant your life begins to feel.

Not necessarily because you’re doing more — but because you’re investing time where it matters. That might be in rest, in relationships, in work that lights you up, or in small acts of creativity.

Over time, those small, intentional investments compound — not into interest, but into fulfilment.

Abundance Isn’t Scarce — It’s Quiet

Sometimes abundance doesn’t arrive with fanfare or figures.
It arrives in clarity. In calm. In knowing your time is being spent in ways that nourish you and serve others.

The less time you spend chasing value — and the more time you spend creating it — the more magnetic your life becomes.
